help! EFC and Student Income question

what % of a student's income is counted towards the EFC? isn't it a very high %?

my dilemma is that i want to earn some extra spending money this summer but, if the above is true, basically my earned income will reduce the amount of grants i get.

help!

This is certainly true. I worked a all of 2000 during my freshman year and I made a pretty good amount, that greatly reduced my grant money to zelch. They said that I made too much money for a student, I would reduce the amount of time you work if you worry about your grant money.
