Hi guys,

I am a current CA-2 resident. Allopathic grad, good board scores, excellent in-training exam scores from CA-1 year. However I have struggled mightily at my current program, which has given me multiple unsatisfactory evaluations, and with each new evaluation my confidence shrinks further and further. Recently I was informed by my program that I should consider switching specialties as they are worried I don't have "what it takes" to graduate. I do NOT want to leave anesthesia but I find it next to impossible to try to succeed where I am now, even if they let me keep working, because I feel they have already given up on me.

I am trying to be up front with my issues, and I know I have them, but I know I can succeed in anesthesia. I have gotten good reviews from the more "outside" rotations (affiliated practices/sites not in our main institution), and my best eval was from a rotation that my PD says is usually one of the toughest graders. This is why I still feel there is a chance that I can make it, even if my program doesn't agree. So here I am.

If anyone out there can let me know of any openings, and how to contact your program, I would really really be grateful. My PD already knows that I am exploring a transfer. Thank you all, and please get back to me if you think you can help.

Also although it is not ideal, I would be even open to starting over from CA-1 year if that's what is available. Probably would just be a very experienced easy to train newbie for that first few months. thanks again.

I may be able to help. what program are you with right now? (you can PM me if you don't want to reveal this publicly). What regions of the country are you open to moving to?
:luck:

I'm in the same boat as well. When I read this post, it sounded exactly like my situation!
