I think I'm pretty bad at interviews. Mostly because anxiety/stress/nervousness gets best of me. Any one know any particular methods that helps you increase your interview skills?

oh man...i feel you...my first interview was a disaster compared to my last one. I actually went a bought a couple of job interviewing books. The best way i can help u is with the cheezy "be yourself" advice. really, smile a lot, look em in the eyes, lean forward and sound borderline fervent ))

Does your school have a health committee? I did 4 mock interviews with mine and it helped a ton. Gotta get over that nervousness.

Did you guys take notes during the interview? I mean, when they ask you if you have questions, did any of you have those questions written down on a notepad or something?

take a chill pill. ...see your doctor for one. or take one shot of tequila beforehand. just one.

or just relax. it's just two people talking.

dont think of it as an "interview".. most of my interviews this cycle and last cycle were more like casual conversations where the committee gets to know you better.. just be yourself. Also look at the interview feedback section of the forum so you can familiarize yourself with questions each schools will ask you.

Like Nismo stated they are trying to get to know you. Remember they are interviewing you because they like what they see in your application. Just relax and be yourself. I know easier said than done sometimes but it's the truth. Check SDN's interview feedback section to help you feel more prepared for the interview. Maybe that will help you feel more relaxed. Also you can find several interviewing techniques books at your local B&N or Borders. Good Luck and stay POSITIVE!!!

just be yourself and relax. thats honestly all they are looking for. Dont go in trying to impress anyone.

Best advice. You won't believe how big of an effect one pill can have. My dad is a doc so he gave me a pill and it was great. Unless your doctor is an ass, just ask and they should give it to you. GL. (I also like the tequila tip lol)

Just talk about yourself. No need to get nervous over talking to someone else.

Did he prescribe propenolol? My doc did, and that junk didn't do jack! Felt like a sugar tablet. Then I saw an episode of Private Practice saying that it has the side effect of causing memory lost! WFT? I don't remember my doctor saying that!!!!!

I was confident, but a bit nervous going in at any rate. Then the night leading into my #1 pick (VCU) interview, I noticed an ink tag was still on my skirt... my house was 600 miles away and no stores were open anymore. I had to cut it out and sew the ENTIRE skirt back together. Then my dad was getting his CT scan results back... finally I just said.. forget it... just do what you need to do to get through this because obviously if it isn't meant to be, then it won't be... I think I did very well...and I got in Dec 1. Took my nerves away to just accept my fate.

Haha no he has a ton of drugs just lying around the house so he handed me something and I took it lol. Sorry I don't remember the name.

Practice, practice, practice. Do as many mock interviews as you can. Have your friend/ girlfriend/ boyfried spit out questions to you while you're hanging out athome or driving in the car or in the super market or where ever.

Also, if you don't regularly drink coffee, don't drink it before an interview - I made that mistake at Tufts and came off as a blabbering idiot.

Of course you probably shouldn't take advice from someone who had 4 interviews and only 1 acceptance. I probably should have practiced more.

Speaking for chill pill -you guys talking bout xanax?
Thanks for the help guys, I am gonna start working on mock interviews/read interview books. Surprisingly I found interviews more pain in the a$$ then DATs.

It's called Xanax. It's the only way to fly.......

Sorry, bad Matrix quote...

also read/speak about some serious issues happening in dentistry. there was an article in the ny times not too long ago that was pretty good. i think it was called boom times for dentists, not for patients.
