hi, do you know what is meaning of below sentence in manual of WREB for class II cavity preparation.

"Proximal and gingival extensions are visually open and break contact up to 1mm."

it is easy to understand that Proximal extensions are visually open and break contact up to 1mm.

but it is difficult for me to understand gingival extensions (or gingival floor) are visually open and break contact up to 1mm. In my opinion, the gingival extension (or gingival floor) break contact more than 1 mm in most condition, not up to 1mm.

can your guy help figure this question?

Prep it to the ideal prep regardless of caries and then if you need to go anywhere else, ask for the modification. You need 1mm open gingival.
