I am sure I am not the onlyone who feels this way. After looking at my MCAT score I was like, is this mine. I am contemplating if I should have my MCAT rescored but I am scared that it will seriously delay my application.

Here's the story. When I was reviewing I was consistenly getting at least 10-13 in each section. I reviewd with a variety of materials AAMC, Berkeley Review, Columbia and Kaplan. Then on the realy thing I get

VR7 PS8 B10 WS P

Does anyone have any advice for me whether I should have my test rescored and if this does delay my application. THANKS

Go ahead and have it rescored if you think that there might have been a mistake and you only applied to MD schools. Your scores are probably not competetive enough for most MD schools anyways, so they would want you to re-take the test in august (or next april to apply next year) so your application will have to wait for that anyways. I don't know what to do if you are applying for DO schools too (which you should be if you are not going to take the MCAT again).

What were you getting on the AAMC tests?

was this the 1st time you took the test?? maybe you just freaked out??

i only say that b/c the 1st timei took the test i was getting as high as a 35 on the practice tests and then on the real thing i ended up with a 28.

2nd time around- i was definitely more comfortable and didn't choke at all as i pulled a 38 out of my butt.. so you can have it rescored--- but THE LIKELY conclusion is that they didn't make a mistake and you'll just have to start studying for the august.

just my .02

Hi,

This is my 2nd time taking the MCAT and I was very comfortable and felt extremely good comingout of it.

AAMC 1-4 I got a 34
AMMC 5 I got a 32
AAMC 6 I got a 32

Scored a bit higher on the kaplan full lengths. I don't understand what happened. My scores just don't feel like mine.

I was scoring around 33 on AAMC V and IV taken under proctored conditions. I studied my butt off for 4 months and took TPR as well. I ended up scoring a 29R (10V,9P,10B) and it seems really strange especially the bio score since I felt I did really good on it. I was really shocked. For verbal, I never scored lower than 11 on all the practice tests that I took. My scores don't feel like mine either and I think I'm going to have them rescored just for peace of mind. I don't plan on retaking the MCAT btw.

hey angelbear...what did you get the first time you took it?

You CAN get your test rescored, and I think you should, because then you won't have to wonder. Be forwarned that if the problem is a gridding error, they can do nothing. A gridding error in your case is unlikely though--you would have had to make a mistake is pretty much every section. I have a feeling these probably are your scores, but get it regraded anyway--heck, MAYBE they got you mixed up with someone else...? Start studying for August too.

Wow, I feel like how you guys feel. I took the test 2 years ago and scored a 27 (9,9,9). So I decided to take it this past April and studied SO HARD for about 4 months. I was really confident the weeks before the exam. I could hardly believe that my score went DOWN after so much effort. I got a 26 (8,8,10) and am REALLY distressed and upset. I feel like I'm grieving or something. It's really hard to get the motivation to take it again when I've already put so much into it. I think that if you are confident that they made a mistake, then have it rescored. This is SO frustrating!!

I had the same situation. First time, I was scoring over 30 on AAMC. Got a 26M. Took it a second time, and pulled out a 35. Nearly same scoers on AAMC full lengths.

However, the first time I thought I knew the stuff and the test. Boy was I wrong! I didnt even study that much. I think that after taking it for the first time, we start to realise just how little we knew, and then start studying accordingly.

My advice: Dont take in august, take next april. And take Kaplan.
