Hi SDN members,

I am having a major dilemma in my courseload right now. I just recently got a teaching postion in chemistry and I need to devote 20 hours per week into preparation and teaching. I don't know if I can handle a complete courseload without getting mediocre grades at this point. My college requires us to take at least 13 units for the semester. So far, I have signed up for physiology, biological psychology, and nutritional science, which are all memorization heavy courses and adds up to 10 units. I also enrolled in a seminar that is 1 unit and is only offered as Pass/Non Pass.

So the dilemma is in the last 2 units remaining!!! I was originally planning to take a botany plant course for 2 units, but I believe there are one hundred of plant species we have to remember and also the pharmacological effects of each plant. I mean, I guess I could manage to get through this class, but it would probably be some high stress right there.

My alternative is to take another seminar worth 2 units that is only offered as pass/nonpass. There would definetly be less memorization there and no midterms/finals.

However, I am worried that: 3 out of my 13 units are pass/nonpass units from seminars. Will dental school view that negatively? I don't want to seem lazy or anything or trying to avoid taking classes. Are they going to ask me this in interview- why I am taking such a light courseload? It's just that I don't think I can handle it with the teaching position at the same time.

I have also taken various seminar courses in previous semesters because I have been interested in variety of things and so far all my units of pass/nonpass add up to 11 units.

Any advice is greatly appreciated. Thank you!

Naw dude...all dental schools care about is your grades at the end of the day, and that all pre-reqs including english are grade scale and not pass/fail...chill out a bit man, how you gonna handle dental school if your stressing now!!
