It all started when I was studying for the DAT's. Last semester, it was the second place I would go to after AADSAS (to see what schools and other pre-dents were up to). Now that I'm not checking AADSAS or my email every hour anymore, I still find myself checking SDN. What gives?

And guess what I'm doing this very minute because I can't sleep...

So...you want us to help you stop checking SDN, help that you solicited by making an SDN thread that you will have to constantly check in order to receive said help? Your problem may be worse than you originally feared

I've become addicted as well. It all started this week when I got accepted to Case. Before then I tried to stay away because I found it depressing that everyone else was getting in and I wasn't. The more you write on here the worse it gets because like the previous post said you have to go check what people are saying about your post.

**sits in ciricle**
hello my name is plakmama......**sigh** and I'm an sdn addict

everyone else on here: hi plakmama 🙄

Dude you need a life.

I know, I am sooooo sad!!

I looked into therapy. Even flew into South Beach and partied for New Year. It was awesome (I think, don't really remember) and I didn't think about you SDNers once.

Needless to say, when I got back home and was within close proximity of a PC ---- relapse!!!

You're so screwed. You've surely embarked on the highway to hell and there are no U-turns, K-turns, or any turns whatsoever. Might as well just embrace it, live it, love it.

Haha, I'm just kidding but not really. I've found that when I get "addicted" to something. I just let myself OD on it for a while, drugs of any kind excluded. Say, I get caught up watching a silly TV show. I'll let myself watch the whole season or as many episodes in one sitting as I can. Eventually, I get bored and or I get so disgusted with myself I have to do something else. Then whatever that thing is, I run with it like actually running. 👍

well, if you didn't check the forums so often, this site wouldn't be so damn slow!!! yes. yes you. you hog bandwidth!

Just unplug your computer and cut the ethernet cable

After applying I have been diagnosed with OCD. Been going to a shrink. Not helping much tho. jk. I also check my email/SDN all the times. Its all normal. Sign of desperation, but who isnt.

I've been called many things, but that is just plain HARSH man! Where is the compassion for a tormented fellow human-being?

Maybe I could use the ethernet cord to end this miserable suffering.

Haha, just kidding, please don't report me...

Sooo right there with ya.

Im sure hes going to keep checking this website even if someone throws his computer out the window. That feeling that you need to be checking this website or youre missing important information is going to follow you for the next years of your life until you get your DDS, or maybe even after.

ok, so here's what you tell yourselves. yes, I check aadsas every 5 minutes. some might even think it's compulsive. but the minute the screen changes and you magically see "Offer Made" or "Invited for Interview," it's a sublime feeling that makes those 5000 screen refreshes worth it

Thats why I can't wait until I apply for dental school dentstd.
I need to sell my motorcycle before I apply/accepted, otherwise I going to ride it across my neighborhood screaming like a crazy person LOL

im so happy my OCD ended on december 1st... what a relief

So what is the prescription for this affliction?

SDN is my way of ending my boredum at work, but i do check it at home when i am bored too......so i guess i am in the addicted club

well at least you're not engaging in other, more deleterious activities (sex, drugs, alcohol). unless you are, which is totally cool if thats your cup of tea.

Just unplug your computer and cut the ethernet cable

so let me get this right, you want the OP to unplug their computer, cease power to the CPU, discontinue all electricity to the tower....and THEN cut the ethernet cable...please enlighten me your logic. I'm no genius (well maybe🙂) but if you turn off your computer, i'm PRETTY SURE you can't get on the internet no matter what you do - ethernet cable or not. just throwin that out there....:laugh::laugh:

totally messin btw...but if you're like me, i just got the new blackberry pearl a few months ago, and even if my computer went up in flames, i would unfortunatley STILL have access to SDN :scared:😀😎:scared:😀😎

one more addict right here. the problem is that i have sdn book marked in the tabs so it's even faster to get in, so i don't waste time in the address box.
at my last interview some guy asked what sdn was and i couldn't believe it, we all thought that there had to be some admissions rule aganist not being aware of sdn.

ps. thanks for the post. i now know i'm not alone.

Hey Plakmama where u going to school next year?

Hey Plakmama where u going to school next year?

swe2th, is this your way of testing whether I am still an addict? Guilty.

Eh, I'm planning to hit some of the larger dental schools. Just show up during orientation. Hopefully with all the commotion of the incoming class, no one will notice that this crasher is actually "not on the list". Someone mentioned this once and I've since pondered if it could actually be pulled off, haha.

Seriously though, Midwestern is where I am heading this fall. Gosh, if I showed up and they told me it was a clerical error and I really was "not on the list" then the joke would be on me huh? :meanie:

I don't think it's so bad to be addicted to this site. I mean, you see everyone getting accepted and people with crazy stats. It's kind of motivating. I remember when I left SDN for a few months, my motivation tanked. Just something to think about.

Alcoholic Anonymous--------> SDN Anonymous:laugh:
