Okay, so maybe I'm being a little dramatic. I've named lots of puppies and dogs, but I just can't find a good name for this one. My best guess is that he is a pit bull/ boxer mix. He was found dumped on the side of the road with his siblings. He'll be 8 weeks old on Tuesday and I've had him for a little of 7 weeks now and I just can't come up with a good name for him. He's very bullheaded but he's sweet too and of course wants to be the center of attention. He has actually had several names already, but none seem just right. He's been called DoJigger, Mudslide (the drink), Kenyasha (which means dog demon), Stout (type of alcohol), and Dekoto (roughly means defiant prince).

My favorite has been Kenyasha but no one can remember it and they call him Kenny which I don't like. I've looked at tons of name websites and haven't found anything I like. Anyone have some suggestions? As you can probably tell I like unusual names. Maybe something in Latin that has a cool meaning, or parasite with an interesting name, or anything else.

He looks like a "Meat" or a "Reuben" (Rubes for short?) or even, and I don't know why (maybe I just like the name), a "Liberace" (Lib or Libs for short?).

Adeno

You should name him "Chance" because you gave him the chance to live and thrive. I also like "Kujo" for a dog's name. Good luck and let us all know what you decide.

Brinks, like the home security system

Or how about "Doug"? Then you can have a sign that says "Beware of the Doug". Just like in that Far Side cartoon. Heh.

Yeah, I've got nothing.

Those are some good names. I like Kymani and Asphalt. Hmmm . . . I really am making this harder than it should be, but it's kinda fun too.

My pit/boxer mix's name is Toby McPuffin. Yeah, I'm weird. All of my dogs have some form of strange Irish surname. Anyway, that is an absolutely adorable baby you've got there!!! I think good names come about through good nicknames. Whatever you start calling him in jest , just make it into a real name.

I have a cat named Schrodinger (he likes to sit in boxes, so... physics joke). However, *he* thinks his name is "psst!" because I've always used that sound to get his attention. If I call him with that sound, he comes running from anywhere in the house, and neither of my other cats even rotates a pinna in my direction. Accidentally say "psst!" in conversation or try to get the attention of one of the other cats, and you'll get Schrodinger in your lap instead.

Aside from a cute story, this was meant to further what miltonmcdougal said - after so many tries at names, there must be something he responds to. So you might try asking your dog what *he* thinks his name is!

He responds to me clicking my tongue. Well, he used to that little brat. lol. I've been toying with Kismit the last few days. It's short, different, good meaning. I just have to run it by my friend and see what she thinks.

How about Onyx? (yes, like the stone!)
His little eyes look as black and shiny as a real onyx, and his little body is jet black like the stone as well.
He's ADORABLE and Onyx is fairly unique, just like him 🙂
Kate_g says ask your dog what *his* name is...I have to agree!
My sphynx kitty (see my avatar!) is named ADONIS, and he picked it out himself.
I came up with a few names I liked (all somewhat unique as well) and said them to him one by one. Adonis was the only one he perked up to, so it stuck, and it is so very fitting!
Goodluck and give the little guy a cuddle! 😍
