Hello,

As the title states, it's an emergency. To make a long story short, I attend a for-profit osteopathic school that does not receive federal funding. Due to financial hardships (parent job loss, death in the family), I cannot secure a private loan for my second year of school. Sadly, I do not have cosigners in the US, and no accessible, private lenders want to work with my school because it's for-profit. I won't go into further detail due to privacy, but please trust me, I have done everything imaginable to secure funding.

I have been advised by faculty to try and transfer, and I'm willing to do this but need some guidance.

If anyone out there has ANY experience with transferring between the first and second year of osteopathic school, please let me know. I'm desperate. Let me know which DO (or even MD) schools might be open to accepting transfers due to extenuating circumstances (e.g., financial hardship).

Thank you for your time.

Please do not comment if you have any negative or degrading comments. Now is not the time. This situation is extremely stressful for me, and I certainly don't need any more hostility than I've already received from my school.

Just want to add, I made a similar post on Reddit, but would like more feedback so I'm also asking on SDN.

I seen your post on reddit too and I hope you get this figured out and I am sorry for your loss. You can just mass email all DO schools and hope one picks you up. ACOM had two students transfer in I believe. I know 1 did for sure.

Edit: I didn't comment on the reddit post but thought this may be helpful as I did not see anyone mention ACOM. Goodluck.
