Keep in mind to the readers of my previous post. I am not saying "give up on getting into medical school." That is a fight worth fighting (within reason). There are simply so many great applicants and such few spots that good people need to reapply. Now, if you have been admitted, went through classes and failed numerous times (not just once) and you have to start thinking about lawyers, psych docs to diagnose you with something that will "work", then you are out of your mind and should try to accept the reality. Unless there was something MAJOR like a death or cancer fight (in which case only a cold hearted dean could sink so low as to kick a student out) then it is useless. Excuses are like a**holes, everyone has one and they all stink.

Wah! Wah! Wah! Waaaaaaaaaaah!!! 😴 😴 😴

You sound like everyone I went to high school and college with. They told me I was out of my mind to apply to medical school and would never get in. Well guess what? I didn't listen and applied to medical school and got in and was one of the youngest people in my entire class (back then).

I did have some major stuff going on. That's why they let me repeat classes in the first place. I had failed more than the maximum credits allowed but they let me stay because of what happened that year. The only reason I got kicked out this year was because I failed a class twice, and although I came within a percent or two of passing, it just wasn't enough. Also, despite my poor grades, I had made a good impression on the dean, so he encouraged me to reapply to his medical school again and told me he would write me recommendation letters to any program I was applying to so it might overshadow my dismissal. Even though the faculty (PhD's) have no faith in me, the head of the entire school (who is an MD surgeon himself) told me to reapply to med school. (Side note, I have nothing against PhDs so don't pm me about it :meanie: )

You know what I find HILARIOUS...... how you say there are so little spots SO NOT TRUE! in this country 1 in 3 applicants get IN to medical school (MD) and that is NOT including DO schools...... I'm from Canada dude and there the odds are REALLY NOT in your favor.... for Ontario med schools...... its anywhere from 1 in 12 to 1 in 40 !!!! now thats what I call 'few spots'. I think Americans are SO lucky! in Canada you need realistically above a 3.8 to even be looked at, here you could get in with a 3.00 !!! or even lower..... man.... sometimes I wish I was American 😉 lol.......

Bottom line CoolCucumber........ you're American, this is the land of opportunity you DEFINETLY HAVE another shot! just don't apply too far up north 😉

..but medicine is a calling not a profession for me..

It's a calling until you start doing call. When you see how much it can suck its hard to bring the offerings to the temple with your previous gusto.

To the OP, you are young. What you need to do is let it go. Do something else for a few years, maybe enlist in the Marines or backpack through South America. Whatever. Just do something that will take you out of circulation for five or six years, let all of this die down, and try again. Maybe you can get a PhD in a medically related field and apply with that under your belt. From what you have written let me say as a cynical old dog who understands the beauracratic mentality that your school, from the Dean to your professors, is blowing smoke up your ass. All they want is for you to go quietly so they can forget about you which is what they will do three minutes after you submit your resignation. If you put up a fuss you will still be gone but they will talk about you and laugh at faculty get-togethers.

Have the sense to understand that you are being shown the door and you can either leave with a little bit of dignity or they wil get the bouncers to throw you out.

You are so dense.

Hehe. You should check out my reply to "Bllkkd" on that other thread where he was dissin' me. It's so juvenile it'll make you

No, I'm not applying back to my med school. I'm applying for a masters and possibly caribbean med schools.

yeah if you are an AA. Otherwise, you need at least a 3.5 for most US MD schools.

Canadians are eligible to attend US med schools and many students do so. In a sense it's harder to get into med school from a US state without any public schools than from Canada.

They are eligable that is true (hence I'm here), but to say that its harder to get in from a state with NO state schools (like Alaska) than Canada is NOT true!!! you are considered a foreign student as a Canadian and as an Alaskan (or another state with no med school) you are an American and can EASILY apply to the private schools here in NY or Illinois etc etc...... I still think Canadians especially Ontario residents get shafted more than anyone else in N. America!!!!

So what?!?! The gate can be opened for anyone, not being able to perform once you are in is what rules you OUT!?!? If failing multiple classes doesn't disqualify someone then what does? Seriously, what does? At what point do you say the material is above a person. Obviously not everyone has the apptitude for medicine just as not everyone has an apptitude to be an electrician, a lawyer, an enginneer, a mechanic. All professionals in their own right (I KNOW I don't have the math skills to be an engineer). Should there be a "heart test" to see if your heart is pure and true and that you have heard voices calling you into medicine, at that point, you may come back?!?!

This and all the people blowing sunshine up your butt is freaking PATHETIC! 👎

The title for this thread should be "You go girl" episode of the Oprah Winfrey show.

Just wanted to say that I miss Ineedhelp. I use to see her in the library and wow...I definitely had the hots for her. Where are you Ineedhelp and what are you doing now. Your secret admirer.

it already sounds like you gave you a few chances...

Hey guys,
I just wanted to say thank you for all your help. Good news, I've gotten into the big 3 carib schools 🙂 but right now I'm waiting for word from the medical master's programs that lead to us med school admissions. Hopefully I won't have to leave the states. I have my mcat retake on saturday, the MS/MD programs said they would wait until july to see what i got and make a decision then. I'm so scared for saturday :scared:

Looks like I got the last laugh. Wow you really have a complex. I'm glad you're out there serving humanity. Sounds like perhaps it's YOU who chose the wrong profession, not me.

Didn't I go to your school? I think you got me confused with INeedHelp or InABind. They were guys (or were they girls) I love it when men love me and women hate me 😀

Or maybe you like men 😱 ...which is kinda hot. I'm up for that.

So futuredoc...are you a babe? 😍 😍 😍

NO!!!

I'm never going to let go. I'm going to be a doctor if it kills me. I'm not going to listen to your ridiculous nonsense. It is possible to get back into medical school after being kicked out. I know someone who failed even more classes than I did, then somehow got back into his med school and failed boards 3 times because he took step 1 somehow without even passing his M2 classes first like an idiot, and still graduated. I also know someone who failed more classes than I did, got kicked out of med school, and reapplied and got into another US medical (allopathic) school. It is extremely difficult but not impossible as you claim. Yes, even in the US at an allopathic (md) school that is moderately well-ranked. Anything is possible with documentation and positive recommendation letters. I got into the top caribbean school so at least I'll be going somewhere this fall 🙂 now i'm just waiting for what will happen to the us master's programs. i hope one of them takes me :scared:
