Hey Guys,

I was accepted at UMDNJ-NJMS which was my first choice, so Im extactic! But Ive been recieving interviews from other schools and is still debating whether or not I should go... Im nervous because for some reason I feel like Im putting all my eggs in one basket with NJMS, what if they change their mind lol I havent recieved anything from them since they accepted me. Has anyone recieved anything from them post acceptance?? I was accepted at the osteopathic school in jerz and they send me something every week.
Any feedback would be appreciated.

good job!....congrats🙂 do u go to Rutgers? and no they wont change thier minds unless of course ur grade plummet.........when were u accepted? i sent in my $100 check back in august..and bout 1.5 months later i got a reciept for the class of 2009.....and i think we should be gettin a letter this week bout the student luncheon that is in the beginning of jan.....congrats again 🙂 ill def be there......🙂

At the risk of angering my fellow SDN-ers, I am going to say go to the other interviews if it will make you feel better. You'll get to see other places close-up and compare them to your top choice, even if you are set on going there.

As an applicant with only 1 interview, 1 waitlist, a few rejections and no word from anyone else yet it may seem like I should be telling you to give up your interview spots to the rest of us, but I cannot do that in good conscience.

i totally agree. unless you are 200% sure that you would go to this school over the other ones you have interviews with, i would go to the interviews. you put in the time and effort for those schools and you may be impressed with them when you get there. besides, the more options you have, the better, right?

First of all, chill.... You're in, one way or the other! Woo hoo! 😀

I'm going to suggest keeping your options open, see what else is out there. So far in my interview journeys, I have had my list of preferences flip flop everywhere just like John Kerry. (tee hee, jk, I did after all vote for him!) But overall, you can relax because you indeed are going to medical school and they'll be calling you Dr. in 2009!

The ONLY downside to keeping your interviews is cost. If you can afford to get everywhere else, then by all means go and check out the schools--you don't know for sure where you are supposed to be until you've at least visited other places. However, that isn't always realistic since travelling can be quite expensive. Either way, congratulations!

Congratulations on your acceptance. Now that you have received an acceptance you can afford to be selective with what interviews you attend. If you are 100% certain that NJMS is the school for you and you would not attend any of the other schools that you applied to if you were accepted under ANY circumstances then sit back, relax and wait for orientation. If there are some schools that you are still the slightest bit interested in then by all means attend, what do you have to loose. I've learned that your opinion of a school could drastically change from your interview experience. And for those schools that you would absolutely not attend over NJMS then save some money and buy your loved ones some extra nice Christmas gifts.

I'm actually in exactly the same position. After getting an acceptance from NJMS, I'm not terribly interested in going through the strain of interviewing at other institutions either.... so I have no real answers for you on whether or not to go. Although if you've never interviewed anywhere else I'd go to at least one other interview, if anything just to convince yourself how much better you think NJMS is 🙂
I will tell you though that NJMS is unlikely to throw you out of it's acceptance pool on a whim.... so no worries. I haven't recieved anything from them post-acceptance yet, but I can go downstairs sometime soon and ask them about it I suppose. (I work in a lab at NJMS at the moment.) Anyway, congrats on the acceptance.

how long should i wait to start the OFFICIAL NJMS CLASS OF 2009 THREAD???...i think i should have the honor of startin it cuz i think that im prob one of the first, if not the first accepted student in the class of 2009 (8/23) ... 😀 😀
