So I have interviewed at multiple osteopathic medical schools, and initially when applying to schools I did not consider tuition cost too heavily, basically only ruled out a school for this reason if tuition was ridiculously high. Now I am trying to decide what the best decision would be. I have been accepted to a few schools already and have interviewed at nova southeastern, lecom bradneton, both midweterns, and I was planning on only doing one more interview at touro nevada (but this is pending based on cost).

There is a large tuition difference between these schools and I was wondering if anyone knows which schools would be cheapest and how to go about applying for and receiving scholarships. I haven't heard much about this issue during interview days so if someone could elaborate that would be really helpful. I have also heard that sometimes the first year class can get lower tuition so I was wondering if this would be possible at marian university.

Thanks for your help!

you should look at the curriculums and location too and make sure theyre a fit. pbl is not for everyone and it wasnt for me. lecom has great tuition but you have to be sure you would fit in there.

oh and ive been looking at scholarships slowly..if you're a white male and havent saved the rain forest then I would not count to heavily on scholarships unless someone knows something I dont..lol. I am almost positive ill get called racist for this statement but oh well. also doing research is apparently helpful for scholarships.

yeah I definitely am considering location and how I like the schools as well, I am not sure if pbl is right for me either as I am not the type that usually learns well from mostly reading on my own, but an $80,000 difference over the 4 years is pretty significant.

I am an asian indian so Im pretty sure Im in a similar boat, and I don't think anyone will call you racist for that as everybody knows minorities get an advantage in those cases.

Thanks for your input

PBL = small group with a facilitator that provides guidance on making connections in the material. Then go home and read your books and figure out cases.
Lecture = Sit in a room for a few hours everyday and have someone outline things for you. Then go home and read your books and figure out connections.

Either way, you'll be learning mostly from reading on your own.
