Hi, I was wondering if it's too late to take the DAT? I've just started considering going to dental school. It seems like everyone already took it by now but the schools that I was looking at still accept scores up to Dec. Am I really at a big disadvantage?? Thanks!

Well that depends. Do you want to apply for the 2009 cycle? If you've just decided you want to go to dental school, I think a late DAT score isn't the only problem you'll have if you don't have any extracurriculars or anything like that to show that you're serious about dentistry and that you actually have a pretty good idea about what you're getting into.
Whether or not December is too late is dependent on a lot of things, especially how competitive your GPA is, and whether or not you've submitted the ADSAAS application and transcripts (all of that stuff takes FOREVER to process.)
So basically, give us more information about the specifics of your situation and we'll try to help.
(On the other hand, if you're applying for 2010, you have nothing to worry about.)

It costs an average of $1,500 to apply. If the money is not a big deal and
If you are good at your sciences, you might wanna give it a shot. You can study hard for 6 weeks, and take it late November. You have to start filling your applications and writting your personal statement in a week though. Most schools accept applications till December as you said, although applying late is a disadvantage.

No, its not too late. Go for it! But I would be concerned that you might not have the shadowing experience that they are looking for when you apply since you are just deciding this. But its not to late at all to take the DAT and apply. You just have to get on the ball.
