help.....major/deferred admit program

Hey everyone,
i just finished my first semester (undergraduate) at a private college and i am a biology major right now but biology is probably the most difficult major at my college and i was considering switching to psychology...i'm not sure yet. anyway,
1) i was curious if a psychology major would be a disadvantage to me when applying to dentistry school?

2)I also would like to use the dap so i could hopefully be admitted into dental school earlier. So if i try doing that should i forget some of the prereq. courses for my private college and just focus on the key classes for dental school? Or is that not possible?

1-You can major in anything and still get into d-school. Some schools like to see the diversity of other majors.

I picked Bio because I loved it and have had a lot of fun in it. I think it has been beneficial in the fact that this major made it easier to prep for the DAT cause a lot of stuff came from classes I have taken, or some thing have been hammered in so much. I also think it might be beneficial in D-school because I think our BIO dept has a really solid program that gets you well prepared, at least other friends have told me that their 1st year seemed really smooth because of how well they were prepared here. So in that way I am glad I have been challanged.

2-Whats the DAP? Sorry can't help here.

I'm a psychology major and I got into two dental schools this cycle. I enjoyed psychology, so I ended up doing well in those classes. I only picked psychology over biology because I liked it alot more. You also have to remember that your psychology classes won't have scales/curves like your biology classes will (at least that's how it was at my school). Also, if you do a psychology major, you should probably take some upper level biology classes (perhaps pick up a biology minor?) to show the dental schools that you can handle challenging classes. They'll also come in handy when prepping for the DAT (especially systems physiology).

good advice 👍. if you go with the psych major, add a bio minor.
