Hey guys,

I'm kind of stuck here in terms of studying for the MCAT again. I took the MCAT once before in July of 2012 and took a Kaplan MCAT course, read the books at least twice and used a fair amount of the online resources. Only got a 21R (9 PS, 6 VS, 6BS). They gave me a deal for private tutoring sessions because of the higher score guarantee which is great but after doing some research on the other MCAT prep methods out there (TPR, TBR, EK) I am struggling as to what I should do. I am taking the MCAT again on May 23rd and have been studying for it since February. I have taken 3 practice tests that are not showing any improvement. After reading many of the posts on this topic, I have ordered TBR orgo, biology and physics books (trying to get a hold of the gen chem books without much luck :/ ) and ordered the 101 verbal passages EK book. I want to do the SN2 method but the thing is I don't have the TBR books yet so I'm worried I wont have enough time or the right resources to prepare best for my next MCAT in this 3 month time frame. Help??

Any help would be great.

Thank you very much!

I think you still have enough time if you are dilligent about working multiple hours every day. You can also always postpone your test although for a fee.

you have a great writing score it looks like. Don't worry about that. Unfortunately, your other subject sections leave some things to be desired. I might postpone the test if I were you. The scores you are reporting suggest that you are missing these questions because you are not understanding some things about what is being asked or how it is being asked...unless you are getting the questions you do answer like all right but are not finishing sections.

I would forget about the timing for a bit. Work on each question and make sure you understand why the correct answer is correct. Write it down. Also understand why the wrong answers are wrong and if you picked one of them, how you got to that wrong answer and why. Write this down too. Do that for EVERY question. This will take a long time so forget about the timing. When you start to get a higher percentage of the questions right, then come back to the timing issue.

Good Luck!

Like the above poster said, trying to figure out why you missed the right answer. Did you just not know the concept presented or did you reason differently/think they were asking for something else? If you've been truly studying for as long and hard as you say and having no improvement, I wonder if you're having problems with the questions rather than the material. If the former, personally I found the EK 1001 question books to be really helpful because I got used to the question style and how to approach them.
