I am in a major dilemma. I am hoping to apply to med school this June but after I got my second mcat score, I am freaking out.

1st MCAT: 10 P 8 V 12 B = 30R
2nd MCAT: 10 P 6 V 12 B = 28Q
(I've become an anxious test taker. Went down 8 pts from practice tests)

EC:
4 yrs Program helping kids w/ special needs (2 hrs/wk)
2 yrs Hospital volunteer (3 hrs/ wk)
2 yrs After-school Nutrition Program (3 hrs/wk)
1.5 yrs Research (10 hrs/wk)
4 yrs Work (10-15 hrs/wk)

1. Should I take the mcat again in June to apply this year?
2. Can I get into a CA school?
3. I plan on applying to 25 schools, none of which are DO and Caribbean. To sum it all: What are my chances?

Thank you all.

1) Yes. Or sooner if you're ready. You have time to regroup, so take a breath. Relax.

2) With a 6 in VS, you could probably get into a less-selective DO school, probably not one in California, unless you are a native Spanish speaker.

3) Probably not good with the score drop and poor VS for the vast majority of MD schools which look only at the most recent score. There are some med schools that average scores or take the best set. This is a beast you need to slay. Meet with a counselor about your test taking anxiety. Keep your skills sharp until it's time to retake.

Thanks for the advice! Will be taking my mcat again in May and applying in June.
