Freshman year i totally screwed myself and did not try at all in high school. Sophomore year, i got into shape, academically speaking, and made honor roll in the 3rd marking period and off by 2 points in one class during the 4th marking period. As for the 1st and 2nd marking period, my grades weren't necessarily horrible, but I remember having a 79 in one of my classes. Now I'm a junior in high school and have made honor roll during the 1st marking period and plan on doing so for the rest of the year. Recently, I joined an Asian Cultural Club, Medical Society Club, and FCCLA (leadership group). I plan on volunteering in a hospital several times a week for 2-4 hours a day. Despite making honor roll several times, these stats make me very, very scared:
Class Rank: 242 of 315
Gpa: 2.1
Weighted GPA: 81.2214

Recently, I took the PSAT and got a 1480, which i believe to be average. In critical reading, i scored higher than 67% of juniors; in mathematics, i scored higher than 55% of juniors; finally, in writing skills, i scored higher than 50% of juniors in my class.

I started to study for the SAT and am aiming for AT LEAST a 2000.
During the 1st two years of high school, i had absolutely NO EXTRACURRICULAR ACTIVITIES. I seriously want to pursue pre-pharmacy/pharmacy because i know it will better myself and will better my familiy in the future. I plan on doing amazing this year so i can take all classes advanced or honors next year, or a mixture of both. I've been told if i do well this year and next year, it will compensate for the very bad 1st two years. Does anyone on this site think this is true?

I sincerely believe that doing well on the SAT and getting honor roll this year and doing advanced/honors classes next year will better my chances to make it to a pre-pharmacy program. I am planning on making an appointment with my guidance counselor because i'm very worried about my chances because time is slowly running out.

I've been looking at pre-pharmacy programs from Rutgers, Wilkes, MCPHS (Massachusetts College of Pharmacy and the Health Sciences), and the University of California/Southern California. I really need to do a whole lot better in school and to secure myself for my future.

Does anyone have any suggestions as to how i can better my chances into being accepted into a pre-pharmacy program? Please help!

As of right now you almost no chance of getting in. You already know what you need to do. Get better grades, test well, and get those extracurriculars. Good luck.

Agreed. All the extracurriculars in the world won't save a 2.1 GPA.

If you are only in high school, and really serious about pharmacy then I you still have plenty of time!

These grades might affect your college choices, and I don't think you will get into a 0-6 program. But I think if you continue to work hard and learn the material in college you'll be fine. Just make sure to get that experience!

Good luck on those tests!

No way you can get in with a 2.1

Go to undergrad and major in biology or biochemistry and get decent grades for 3-4 years and then apply to pharmacy schools. No one cares about high school unless it is the only thing you can judge an applicant by. Plus, then you could apply to way better schools than Rutgers...

to the OP, you still have time. You have NO chance of getting into a 0-6 program. However, many applicants go through the traditional 2 years of college undergrad/bacehlors degree first and then Pharm school. Therefore, your 2.1 GPA might limit you to lower quality colleges, but you still have an opportunity to get a high undergrad GPA. Most pharm schools do not even look at your HS grades. GL
