Why did you apply to a school that you didn't want to attend?

You objectively should attend an established MD school over a just-accredited DO school. You're probably low-key not worried about double boards because that's just what you've made your peace with, but it's a big deal. But if you personally think that you will be better set up to succeed in CA close to your family, that is your prerogative.

Just to piggyback off this, as someone who attended a school that underwent a massive curriculum change my M1 year- it's awful. Go to the school that's established.

New DO schools are basically fake med schools at this point in the vast majority of cases. NEW ones. I'm not talking about places like VCOM

valid question: I applied mainly cuz I never thought I would get it anywhere, let alone having to pick between two schools. I applied due to being a low stat applicant. Another reason I should mention my hesitancy to leave CA is I just bought a house here. Like legit closed on it last week. It will be a pain in the ass selling and finding new accommodation on such short notice.

Ok that is a greater than normal amount of attachment to the area. I have no doubt you could sell again without much difficulty, but you’ll be out all those fees.

If you’re ok with the limitations of being a DO, it may not be worth it for you to move. But from a career standpoint you likely would do better at the MD school

Meharry. Sell or rent your house. Congratulations.

It’s not even close. Way better options for residency. Better education and teaching.

This is coming from someone who left California for med school. You can come back. Especially from Meharry. Set up your away rotations fourth year in California.
