03/25/2018 AAMC FL#1

Just took my AAMC FL 1 and got a 508 (128,126,127,127) and I did take this last year around April and recognize some of the questions but not the answers for 95% of them.

I remember I got a 498 on the AAMC FL 1 last year (May 2017)

So what do you guys think about all this?

I am aiming for a 512+ and my test is on 4/21. I dont mind a reschedule as I work 40 hours a week with volunteers on the side.
I will be taking the AAMC #2 next week (which I took already) and the new AAMC FL#3 in 3 weeks.

But is a 512+ possible or were the testings a fluke?

No one can tell you for sure. AAMC 3 is going to be the only true predictor for you since you've taken the others already.

Heard FL2 and FL3 are similar. But if I score pretty high on FL2 let’s say 512+, does that mean anything? This discrepancy is killing me lol

I personally felt that C/P and B/B in AAMC FL #1 were way too easy. However; CARS was very difficult and P/S had a terrible curve (50/59 only gets you a 127!). So I don't think we have enough data points to predict whether you'll be getting a 512+ but I think it would be a safe assumption that you'll have a decent jump from your first attempt. Your performance on the Section Banks, Cars Q-packs, AAMC Sample Test, & AAMC FL 2&3 would give us a more accurate representation of where you stand at this point.

Too premature for a reschedule?

Its funny you say that; because I'm in the same boat. I was scheduled for 04/20 but ended up rescheduling till 05/19. My scores were the following:

AAMC Sample test (C/P; 78% CARS 68% B/B 72% P/S 81%)
NS1- 508 (C/P;127 CARS;126 B/B;126 P/S;129)
NS2- 507 (C/P;127 CARS;125 B/B;127 P/S;128)
NS3- 504 (C/P;126 CARS;124 B/B;126 P/S 128)
AAMC FL1-509 (C/P;129 CARS;125 B/B; 128 P/S 127)

I did end up rescheduling because I wanted to make sure I get a 510+ and I was having issues with scoring well on CARS. However; your situation is a bit different since you scored well on CARS and therefore it is easier to improve the science sections and P/S in a month than it is to improve a CARS score. If you feel more comfortable postponing then it wouldn't be a bad idea as getting your score back in June would not put us at a disadvantage when applying. I would rather go in over-prepared and be consistently scoring around my target score on practice tests before taking the real exam. That way; if something goes wrong and you score a little less, you could still have a bit of cushion to fall back on.

Ya FL 2 and 3 are similar, but since you have already taken FL 2 it can't be used as a true predictor since you've already seen the passages before. If you want something that would be a decent predictor before AAMC 3 I would recommend taking NS 2 or 3. It won't be as good as AAMC at predicting, but it'll be better at predicting than a test you've already taken.

My silver timeline is in two weeks so I will take the AAMC FL 2 and see if i cant get a 512 or higher. If I dont, i will need to def postpone my MCAT...

Just finished AAMC FL2 (I got a 505 last year)

508: 128, 126, 128,126 <----(WTH)

I didnt hit my target of 512+. Should I postpone it? My last day to reschedule is on 4/6...

I felt like C/P was easy as well as P/S but obviously I was mistaken. CARs will forever haunt my souls but Ill continue to practice. BB was especially difficult to read but I think the questions werent not as bad.

Had 5 mins left for C/P, 20 for BB, 5 for CARS, and 30 for P/S (gotta slow it down)

Advise??

30 min of Left over time for P/S is way too much. You defenitly need to practice slowing down and see if you can improve your score. P/S scoring scale I hear is very rough so it’s very difficult to get a high score. 126 is also a good score for CARS. I’m honestly not sure if you should postpone or not, you’re in kind of in a tough spot as your scores seem to be evened out. I would say this, if you feel like doing that same test from last year could have inflated your score as you seemed to be familiar with the passages and questions, then maybe you should postpone. The other thing is, I know your target score is a 512, but think of the worst case scenario, let’s say you score a 508 instead, would that be a game changer for you? If yes, then you should think of postponing. You have to have some wiggle room in your target score if you want to take it now. It’s a tough decision, but you are really the only one that can make it.

How impressive is a 6 point jump tho? And I didnt remember any of the passages or the questions so it really was a fresh test for me. I remembered more on FL1 tho.

I got 516 (130/127/130/129) on my first go at the MCAT. I was super nervous the week before because I was still scoring ~508-510ish. Just go in their confident about what you know and relax! Thats exactly what I did and it turned out great. GOOD LUCK!

How did you study the final 3 weeks? I still have the AAMC unscored and AAMC Fl3 left but I dont want to rush through those if I am going to reschedule.

Asking me how I studied is not going to help you (not trying to be mean here). You need to figure out what your struggling with and tailor your studying regiment to that. Personally speaking, the week before my MCAT I hardly studied and took only one practice test.

Just trying to get some insight lol
def different from my approach from last year.

Alright, just finished my unscored AAMC

69% (WTH), 79%, 85%, 81% (still had 30 mins left lol...) (127,127,128,128) 513
Dont know what happened to c/p, thought it was decent...back to the drawing board.

When I used the reddit conversion, I fall in 510-514 likely to 506-518 Definitely

I have 2 weeks left and still have AAMC FL 3 left

I have taken the Unscored AAMC before but I recall maybe 1-2% of the questions, not answers.

What are your thoughts and my target score of 512?

Looking good! Stay confident and RELAX on test day!!! You got this!
Thank you, but I was pretty surprised at my c/p, its usually my better sections lol

but with all these conversions out there, who knows what I will get...stay tuned for the AAMC FL3 score next week! hahah
