I just started work as a pharmacy tech and I'm trying to learn the SIG language. You know... the things like QOD = Every other day, BID etc. Is there any website that can show me how to read and write this language? I am hoping to write out full sig sentences by using the sig language as opposed to just typing it all out.

shaq....this depends on the program your facility runs. PDX will have different sig codes from other programs for example. You should be able to find that out from your instructional or orientation manual that you got when you did your orientation, or from your pharmacist (but this is a long shot - we don't often have time to learn obscure codes) or better yet...find a tech in one of the stores who has been around a long time.

If you have a help desk for your computer system or something similar, they can help you. Lots of the common sig codes have been preprogrammed & that is often how you have to enter it to be translated into another language. So...you are to be commended for wanting to get these down!

So....good luck! Start with where you began...your orientation manual...then go on from there.
