okay, I just read an e-mail about 30 minutes ago from MCV/VCU, telling me that I was accepted to their program!!!! Wow, my first med school admissions offer (they just took me off their waitlist). 😀 😀

Heehee! well, that was exciting to say the least. Now I feel a little better (I was getting the impression of becoming a waitlist slut). Now that waitlists are on the move, I think it's a good idea to decide (if accepted) on which school I want to attend. UCSD, who's acceptable pool I am attempting to stay afloat in, will not make a waitlist until the 1st-2nd week of June. Being a CA resident and having family in SoCal, this is definitely my #1 choice.

But REALISTICALLY, I have 3 schools that I have to decide between on the eastern seaboard: VCU (I'm accepted), UVM (I'm in the top 1/3rd of their waitlist so might be given a spot soon), and NYMC (making post-interview decisions mid-June). I thought that UVM was where I wanted to be of these three, but lately I'm not so sure. The non-diverse student/patient population is really bugging me now. What should I do?

What are your peep's opinions of these schools? Has anyone had to decide between these? what factors did you measure against in the process? I would love all help that any of you can give. SDNers have been for me all through this hell process, and I'd love to get your feedback! I already went to the website, http://www.amsa.org/resource/cardev/medresults.cfm, and I think I'm getting more confused. Besides, there is a skew between the # of student responses among the schools.

alrite, I agree UCSD wins hands-down if it comes to that (I'm going to SD) 😀 Now, to your question, I dont know about NYMed and UVM (too bad it's not UVA) but I was very impressed by MCV's facilities (exceeded my expectations) and the friendly attitude of students, residents and prof. there. It has a very diverse patient pop. base, and aff. hosp. (1 in Fairfax). Thirdly, MCV seems to have the most specialties training residency spots in the entire Virginia (surprisingly more than UVA), so you would have access to almost all specialties while in clinical training years.

i took you off the not accepted list labrynth79, congrats

Thanks CityIvy and Hero! I'm excited but nervous at the same time. HanSolo- thanks for your advise, too 🙂 . So far I have been leaning towards MCV. Does anyone have any more suggestions/comments/input to give? I would definitely love to hear it!
