Help Me With My War On Trolls

For those of us who actually use this forum for useful hints, tips & answers to our many premed questions, the recent influx of trolls to SDN is very annoying; they bring with them a certain "TPR Aura." I have tried to refrain from responding to these threads-- yes, you all know the ones I'm speaking of (ex: "MD'S are better than {insert any other health care professional,}" {insert health care professionals} are just MD Wannabe's."} 🙄

Unfortunately, many of you are still getting drawn into this nonsense & defending your stance to *****s who do not care about your opinion or how upset you are. Sadly, the ones who start these threads obviously have nothing better to do & no life whatsoever, which is evident by the very fact that they derive some sort of sick, demented, deranged, sadistic pleasure out of getting a rise out of the "SDN Regulars" & putting others down.

As Trek wrote, "To all my pre-allo friends: PLEASE DON'T TAKE ANY MORE BAIT FROM THESE TROLLS. Lets just let these posts slide..." Basically, IGNORE THE JERKS!

I personally hate seeing these useless & space-consuming threads at the top of the page, so I am waging my "War on Trolls." My contribution will be to bump this thread up to the top of the page every time someone responds to a troll's thread. Since I obviously cannot do this alone, I will need the help of all my SDN cyber-buddies in assisting with this & bumping this back up so that the other trolls' threads will soon be lost in the SDN Abyss.

Ok, I know this is quite pathetic, but drastic times call for drastic measures and I am pretty disgusted by the amount of awful threads that do not benefit anyone here. So help me out, would ya? Thanks.

Well said Praying4 (and thanks for the shout-out). As you know, i'm very vocal about this troll invasion we're undergoing (and i wish i could follow my own advice all the time). The problem is that 99% of the people here are very nice and decent folks, and part of being those things is speaking up when someone starts talking crap. The thing to realize is that these trolls thrive off that, and don't care to listen. I know a guy at the gym who's a DC- i'd give any of these trolls $50 to go up to jim and tell him he's a wannabe doc 🙂 Well said, and lets hope this stuff all blows over soon! --Trek

Anyway, I will most probably end up at UTSW. I still have a few applications pending, but nothing too promising, and nothing that compares to UTSW in-state tuition! 🙂 What about you? Are we going to be classmates?

btw, Trek-- is the FAFSA deadline really March 1st for UTSW, or is that the "suggested deadline?"

I've gotten drawn into them before, but I avoid it now.

OK, the problem was created when TPR went to requiring registration. Hence, we should be able to get rid of the trolls by recreating the greatness that was the TPR board when it was still anonymous, to distract the trolls. Like <a href="http://www.studentdoctor.troll.net," target="_blank">www.studentdoctor.troll.net,</a> or something similar. A troll distraction, if you would. They would all get into very enlightened discussions with each other, and would be quite nicely out of our hair.

Any volunteers to help me in the creation of this great site?

OR, someone could see if the moderators are willing to close those threads because of the lack of help or relevence that each of those threads has. Just a thought...

I didn't know that the dental students thread was inflammatory until now because I didn't have any interest in reading a thread about dental students. I really don't think deleting the threads is the best thing to do though. People just need to ignore them (yes, it is hard sometimes). No matter what you do, there will always be someone trying to get a rise out of you in some way.

My other persona took over on that last one...it wasn't really me. I mean it was me but it wasn't the real me.................the me that "IS" right now. Maybe I am also a troll. There are trolls in my head. The trolls are telling me to apply to med school. They motivate me to do things.....

I haven't seen too much activity from the trolls anymore, which is good news. Looks like we have a pretty good turnout. This is sounding a bit mafia-like now, isn't it? Jamier is probably not in espionage or working as a spy for the trolls. He is most probably just too lazy & fed up with them to want them in his forum, so he moved them onto someone else's. :wink:

I'm in, I'm in! God I hate those threads. Are you sure that we can even reply to them with some "troll" comment? Okay, no that too would be incendiary...the thing is that you just want to tell those guys offf, but then you get dragged into it and it ends up making you a troll as well.

someone replied to a troll thread, so I'm bumpin this to the top...guys, just let the troll threads get lost in the list by IGNORING them
 
Count me in too. I've never seen anything like this on SDN (been registered since December)--it's really like an invasion🙁

I hope Jamier can help us out and move this stuff elsewhere or delete it even maybe🙂

We have different forums to keep a little order around here, not just to mess with you guys. While I don't really care either way about the "trolls", if the thread doesn't pertain at least somewhat to applying to medical school, I try to send it where it belongs.

On that note, I'm sending this thread to the Lounge.

Sometimes it's funny watching pre-meds getting trolled, cause its so easy lol. Yeah, it does get annoying though. But it could always be worse.

The funniest thing is watching Anesthesiology, those guys get provoked even when you're being 100 percent serious.
 
Holy epic bump! I was finishing up my senior year in highschool when this was posted...without a thought in my mind I would ever see myself in med school!

Definitely an epic but much needed bump as we're currently inundated by trolls like once, doc poetry and lawnontrad to just name a few. I will do my part by not answering their posts ... though it's so tempting

I Concur. It is hard as hell for me to not reply too...especially on the DO hatin posts....so sick of hearing about it. Oh well.

Oh, and PS. you might as well stop praying4MD because not only does god not exist, but you won't ever be accepted into an MD school (not even Loma Linda)

Prayers were answered, I guess, because when the OP was last here (2 yrs ago) he was a medical school graduate and in residency training....

This thread started when I was a month away from getting accepted to college.
