Hi guys,

I have never traveled outside of California on my own before and I am extremely nervous. I have read and reread the forums from this year and the year before on places to stay overnight in Harlem for my interview at Touro. I am hoping to stay with a current medical student and I have went online to search for programs and looked through facebook groups but did not find anything. Can anyone offer any tips?

Best bet is to call the school and ask if they even have such an opportunity. If not, you'll have to book a hotel room.

You've never traveled outside of California before by yourself? Living by yourself going to med school across the country is going to be quite the shock.

If it's your first time traveling alone I would suggest that you don't use airbnb. Though it may be cheaper and what not, a hotel is a lot more reliable and you are more likely to not have any issues that cause you stress. Also, little things like having a vending machine and ice machine and iron and hair dryer and all of that can be helpful when you're trying to focus on the task at hand.
