Hi all,
I just finished MS2. Due to an untimely car accident I will not be able to continue into my third year.
My original intent was to take on research between my 3rd and 4rth year however, due to my current situation I'd like to do that in the upcoming year. As of now most 1 year long research program deadlines have passed and I am unsure as to how I can proceed.
I live in NY however I am willing to travel if I can find some supportive funding.

Please respond here or PM me with any details you may have regarding research opportunities.
Any advice or direction would be most appreciated.

Thank you.

Do you have any particular skills or interests? Previous research/lab experience?

Do you want to be in the lab? Doing chart reviews? Interviewing patients? Doing data analysis?

If you have something you think you can offer (hard work included) your best bet is applying directly to different PI's who can fund you out of their research budget as staff if there is a good fit.

If you have a good relationship with previous mentors, they can maybe steer you in the right direction and give advice. Do you have previous publications? In the best case scenario, someone has cited a paper you were co-author on which shows they are interested in your previous experiences.

Choose the area of interest and walk into someone's lab that you would be interested in working in. Most researchers will happily taken on a motivated student for a full year. The only concern is whether you will be paid or not.

Unfortunately I don't have much prior experience. I did research for a year in ugrad. Nothing came out of it unfortunately.
This is such an unfortunate setback I'm willing to just do anything at this point. I would like to get something out of my work this time around though.
