I'll have approximately 6 weeks of dedicated study time. I plan to use FA, Pathoma and UWorld, but there are certain topics that I am incredibly weak on and "DO MORE QUESTIONS!" just doesn't cut it for me. I need text, a background story, a narrative, etc.
Here are the resources I have, please help me narrow down the list!
1) UWorld
2) Pathoma
3) FA 2014
4) BRS Physio
5) HY Embryo
6) HY Neuroanatomy
7) Abbas Basic Immuno
8) HY Behavioral Science
I'm completely overwhelmed with resources, but my biggest weaknesses are Pharm, Biochem, Embryo, Neuro and Immuno.
Thanks for the help.
UWorld, Pathoma, and FA are the core to almost everyone's study plans, so that's not gonna change. BRS physio is also great to keep around. I'll address your weaknesses:
1) Pharm: this one's a tough one, but I've heard FA does a good enough job covering pharm. This is something that may need to be flashcarded, and so I've just made my own and kept them simple. I end up drawing more information for the sake of clarification from a variety of sources including Deja Review, Lange micro cards, and Howard Shen's Pharmnemonics cards. The Pharmnemonics cards have really ridiculous mnemonics, but they're so out there that they stick. Sorry I couldn't give you a solid one resource for this one.
2) Biochem: I used Lippincott's Biochem for class, but I plan to use Rapid Review Biochem because I like the outline format, similar to Rapid Review Pathology because it's also co-authored by Goljan.
3) Embryo: HY Embryo saved my ass for the anatomy+embryo shelf. As far as I remember, it was a quick read, too.
4) Neuro: I'd stick with HY Neuroanatomy as well.
5) Immuno: I've heard good things about Abbas, but I've never ever looked at it. As part of my Step 1 prep, I went through the immuno section of Lange Review of Medical Microbio and Immunology. It's only 90 or so pages, but it does an excellent job in teaching your the immuno. I wish I knew about that book when I took immuno.
Good luck. Hope I was of help.
