Hey guys!

I'm going to be submitting my AADSAS app today but I can finalize which 8 schools I should apply to. My choices so far are Columbia(long shot), NYU, Stonybrook, Buffalo, and New Jersey. I want to apply to three more from this list: BostonU, UConn, Pitt, UPenn, and Temple.

Which of the above schools do you think I have a shot at? I don't want to waste my money if I know I don't have a chance of getting in (except for Columbia-hoping for a miracle 😛).

My GPA stats are 3.69 overall and 3.54 science. I'm planning to take the DAT at the end of August.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

SDNers ROCK! 👍

with your GPA Columbia is not that much of a long shot. Mine was lower than yours.

BostonU, UConn, Pitt, UPenn, and Temple

It looks like you want to stay in New York. Do you want to practice here? If so, dont apply to BU (if you want to consider Boston, choose Tufts, it is a lot better). You already have a safety school (NYU) so BU is redundant--only add it if you do poorly on the DAT. UConn is a lot like Columbia in that they focus on didactics and lots of kids specialize from there.

UPenn is a great school but will be very expensive, almost as much as NYU. Temple is good especially if you want to be a GP, but if you plan on practicing in NY remember that residencies are mandatory here, so choosing a clinical school is not that important. I don't really know UPitt that much. . . i didn't interview there.

If you are a NY resident, try to get into Stony Brook. They are the best deal for the $$. All are great choices though. And again I would add Tufts, honestly.

Yes, I want to stay in New York so I can save on tuition and other expenses. I also want to practice in NY. It would be my dream come true if I get into Columbia but I don't know how well I'll do on the DAT. It seems like you need 20's across the board to get in. Do you have any tips? Since you got into Columbia with fine DAT scores if I may say so myself 😀 What other schools did you apply to(get interviews for)?

I don't have any shadowing experience so I can't apply to Tufts. UPenn is a great school but again I'm not sure about the DAT.

For NYU, does everyone get in? From what I hear it's pretty easy to get in 😳
