Ok, So I am taking Chem I and Bio I (both with labs) for this summer. It turns out that Chem is taking over my life. The class is difficult and take a LOT of time/work. Moreso than I thought it would be. With that said, I found out today that a pre-req for Bio I is Chem I. During bio today we were skimming over chemistry (that I have never had before) and our professor was saying how we should all know it and dont need to spend time on it.

Should i just get the heck out of dodge and only take Chem I over summer?

Oh, and It's my first time in school since i graduated 2 years ago...

Thanks!

um...i have never heard of chem being a prerec for biol...are u sure about this?

positive. It says it on the drop/add page clear as day. It also was like that at my other school as well.

It just worries me if I get behind. I could teach myself the stuff but I really don't have time with how much time Chem I takes up. Summer classes are brutal with information.

I also dont want to sacrifice getting an A if i dont meet the pre-reqs.

well its been a while since i had a intro bio, but i don't think there is too much chem to be worried about, unless this is some type of honors class...most of the bio will be memorization and that depends just on free time...in chem you will need a lot of time to do practice problems as this is the best way to learn chemistry...if I was you I would take both classes till the end of the drop period and then see if u get enough time to spend on biol

Ya, my biggest fear is being in over my head. The thing with Chem I in the summer is that it's 12 hrs a week of class/lab and a LOT of info. I could learn bio fairly easy, but i just dont have time to spend on the memorization bio requires.

Drop/add ends tomorrow night! So i dont have too much time.

A "W" is not a possibility is it? Doesn't that look terrible on a transcript?

well I haven't had a W so haven't looked into how it affects med school application...someone else here might be better suited to answer the question about a W...
in my opinion having just one W will not have a big effect...but if u get more Ws along the ways, med schools will definitely look down on it

but seriously I am not totally sure how 1 W will affect your application

I dont think i want a W either from the financial standpoint. Don't want to forfeit my money
