Hi, I just completed a full year at Yeshiva U Wurzweiler MSW. I went there b/c I received a really nice tuition discount. It's a nice school-not exactly challenging, but the classes are small and the professors are great- alot of individualized attention. Since I was working full-time it also fit into my schedule-part-time eve, etc...

Now, I applied for transfer at CUSSW and got in. I know it's not difficult to get into, but I still feel it has some clout even with huge classes and impersonal professors (from what I hear).

I plan on using my MSW in a number of capacities, hopefully creating a portfolio career. I would like to develop a private practice, do hospital/medical social work, Direct programs, EAP, consulting, research, teaching, etc...all at different points of course.

My tuition discount ends in December and then I pay full price (same price as CUSSW). So the real price difference is about $15-$20k in debt (above what my debt would be at YU). While I don't mind YU, I always get asked from people who don't know, are you orthodox? It's not that I mind, but it's complicated to explain the school. I would have transferred to Rutgers or Hunter over CUSSW (because they are well-known), but it was too late.

Do people ask where you went when you're in private practice? Is there really going to be $ in NY SW loan forgiveness or is that a crap-shoot? Is CUSSW worth the extra $15-$20k (total debt CUSSW=$40k or YU=$23k.

Thanks!
