Hey guys, I've been reading on here for a while but I've never actually posted. I just got my MCAT scores back and I did pretty well (39) and so I want to expand my school list to a few more prestigious schools.
My stats, EC's, etc. are:
4.0 GPA (University of Arkansas, Biology major)
39L MCAT
Honors/Awards:
Phi Beta Kappa junior inductee
honors research grant from UofA
Chancellors list every semester at UofA
Dean's List at Bond University, Australia (Study Abroad)
Research:
Biochemistry research 1 summer
Genetics research 2 years
No publications yet, may have one from genetics research by October
EC's:
Campus tobacco-free committee member 3 years
Student Health Advisory commitee member 3 years
will be vice president next year
includes major volunteer project each semester
Arkansas Children's Hospital summer program 1 summer
clinical research + shadowing
Study Abroad in Gold Coast, Australia 1 semester
Volunteering:
Bible study leader/ trip counselor 1 year
Arkansas Children's Hospital volunteer 1 summer
JDRF volunteer 1 year
Now that I type out all of my EC's they seem rather pathetic, but I have a strong academic base and I believe I will perform well on interviews/ personal comment section.
As of now, my school list is as follows:
University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences (safety)
Baylor
Stanford
Columbia
Harvard
University of Chicago Pritzker
Which others do you think I should add?
Also, I have heard that Stanford is very research oriented and without at least one research publication I shouldn't bother even applying. Would you agree?
