so i am looking at some different post bacc's but am getting very confused with all the abbreviations. i want to search for different programs, but it makes it hard when i don't know what things stand for. i have looked at georgetowns SMP website, so i know what that one means but haven't had much luck just googling SMP or special masters program. it would be nice if someone could 1) list what some of the abbreviations stand for 2) maybe list some other schools that have a program very similar to georgetowns, i tried doing the search on that sticky up at the top, but it wasn't very helpful

anything would be greatly appreciated. thanks in advance :)

SMP is special masters program.

the best sites to go to are

http://services.aamc.org/postbac

on the right hand side of the site, tehres a section there called special masters programs

it will list most of them there
some very popular ones
1) Georgetown's special master program
2) BUMAMS=Boston University Master of Arts in Medical Sciences (you can find this on their graduate school page) Their online application webpage is this:
https://apply.embark.com/grad/Bostonu/medicine/62/default.asp?DepartmentID=86

3) Drexel IMS (interdepartmental medical science program), you could find it on their postbac site
4) Upenn's Special Science Program (on their postbac site) (i think this is a special masters, if not, its a postbac designed to help you get into medical school)
5) Barry University's SMP (i believe its something in biomedical sciences)
6) Loyola University of Chicago

you can pretty much find all of these and more on google if you type in special masters program.

Check out this website, its an excellent resource

http://hpap.syr.edu/LISTPB.HTM

All SMP's are pretty much similar, some well established (Georgetown, BU, Drexel), others emerging stars (University of Cincinnati). Good luck in your search, and private message me if you need any help. :)

Dont forget my personal favorite, EVMS (Eastern Virginia Medical School)!!
