I'm taking my Step 1 on Saturday, July 2nd. When should I take NBME Form A and Form B? People have told me that they are the best indicators for Step 1 performance so I don't want to take them to early or too late. It is my plan to take the exams like the real thing so it can predict my score.

I took one of them a week before and the other the day before.

I took the first NBME three weeks before the test and the second one week before. I worked very well for me cause I had enough time to do something on those areas that I didn't do so well. Good luck.

I took the first one yesterday (one week before the real step) and I'm taking the second on Wed (2 days before). Besides being over-priced since there are no explanations, they are good to take for getting a score to assess where you are at.

I feel like its a double-edged sword taking the nbme form so close to the real thing.

if you don't do as well as expected, it could concievably hurt your confidence. Or screw up what you thought were strong and weak points, etc.

Plus taking it so late doesn't allow you to address those issues which you may have done poorly on.
