Hi
I just got into a pharmacy school (6 year program) last week, but now I have a problem
My school told me that I have to enroll in second semester in January 2007
My school is a private school, so its fees are very expensive ,more than 13,000 per semester
Does anyone tell me how I should do in order to borrow that bid amount money to pay for my school?
If I don't have enough money, I might be kicked out of school
Please give me some advices
Thank you
Contact your school at once. Public schools usually process the federal loans for you, but private schools sometimes, as per my experience last year with my son, a 1st year in an 0-6 program, may only send you information regarding possible lenders.
You should fill out a FASFA. You said you are starting second semester January 2007? None of the 0-6 programs my son was accepted to started second semester, they all started in the fall. I am not sure if you should fill out a FASFA now, based on your families tax returns in 05 or if you should wait until after January 1st based on your income in 06.
Your school can help you in this regard. Even if you need to wait until January 1st to fill out a FASFA, you don't need to have filed an official 06 tax return; you will just note in the appropriate area of the form, intending to file. You will need to have some idea of your income in 06 and should file your FASFA quickly. FASFA will forward your EFC, expected family contribution, to your school. Your school has a FASFA code and is important that you find it out before filling out the form. You may be eligible for subsidized or unsubsidized federal money and, possibly, grants.
File your FASFA to the best of your knowledge and if the facts regarding your family's income or financial situation change, you can file an ammendment later.
Once again, my best recommendation would be to contact the school's financial aid department and make sure you get their code for the FASFA and get to work.
Good luck.

My son is very happy with his pharmacy career decision. Best wishes.
