Hey!! I'm Shane!!! I'm looking for pharmacy volunteering positions around the Irvine or Los angeles areas!!! If any of you know a place I can go to get some experience or if you can hook me up please do!!! I'll be totally grateful! Please help!!!!! Currently at UCI...so if any of you are fellow anteaters or whoever know of a place...a recommendation would be great!!! Thhhhhanks!

Hey I work for SavOn at Harvard and Main St in Irvine. When I was looking for a job a year ago I just applied to like 10-15 stores and called back a week or two later. I was lucky enough to find a store that was hiring at the time. My store doesn't take volunteers, but the SavOn at Alton and Jeffrey does, I think. They're actually the biggest SavOn around here, doing on average like 700 scripts a day I think.

Anyway, I'd give them a call. Their number is (949)733-8226. Darmesh is the manager, I believe. Although it might come off as creepy asking for the Pharmacist manager by name.

Don't work at Rite-Aid, try and get a job at Costco or Walgreens. SavOn is alright, but I think they pay the least. But I guess if you're volunteering that wouldn't really matter.(Starting wage for Rx Clerks at SavOn in the LA area is $7.35/hour, went up a quarter like two weeks ago).

Your overuse of the exclamation point has rendered me unable to respond to your question. Here's a suggestion: If you send a cover letter when you apply for pharmacy positions, leave out the exclamation points. They get kind of scary after awhile. 😱

Yo, Meister. I gave them a call but they don't accept volunteers either. Thanks anyways bro...MUCH appreciated. OSURgirl...Meister seemed perfectly capable of understanding what was written. If you can't read my statement, which is TYPED, then how do you expect to read scribbles for prescriptions later on? (Pharmacy joke =D) Just letting you know that negative energy or condescending advices are NOT appreciated. I'm sure you can render that. 😱

Oh yea, I got hired at SavOn on Harvard and Main but couldn't work cuz of some issues. Don't ask. lol. Did Tom hire you? he's an awesome guy. I wish I could have worked for him. anyways good luck bro.

Holy ****, Tom almost hired you? When did this happen? I was working today from 3:30 until 9, when we close. Haha that's cool. Most people think Tom comes off as a little...abrasive.

What sort of issues? (I have to ask)

This was like end of last summer. I got hired...went through the drug test and everything but just some legal issues made it impossible. So that's why im resorting to volunteering. Is he abrasive? Hahaha.. well during the interview he was like "i need someone who can help me." He said that so adamantly. I can see how he can come off as abrasive. lol. What year are you? and major?

I live at Stanford, I'm a physics major. I think I know exactly who you are then. Haha that's so crazy...you were going to start like a month after I did.

We need some people again too. Oh well.

ahahah..small world bro. I also live in stanford 585 man. Too funny. What's your name?

These "legal issues" aren't going to hinder you getting into pharmacy school I hope...?

Most hospitals have some sort of volunteer coordinator, perhaps through the red cross. Have you tried any other route besides retail? I don't know any retail pharmacies that will take volunteers (too hectic).

To some schools, it will be a hinderance....but for most it's ok. Yea, I'm looking into the closest hospitals now. Thanks for the thought!
