Hey, everybody.
.sorry it's so long😳
So this weekend I had all my class sorted out and when I was going to take the MCAT, or so I thought I went to register to take summer classes in my home town to take physics and general chem. The problem is I can't take those classes because I don't have the prerequisite like intro to chem and pre calc.

The big problem is I plan to take the MCAT the summer in 2014 before they completely change it in 2015. The classes I plan on taking next year at my university are all advance classes based off of general chem/ intro to chem, which I'm not to worried about as long as credit transfer for the intro class, but the math is what worries me.

Coming in my to the university,y math ACT score was low so I was placed in intermediate algebra which I got a C- in, and in order to even take pre-calc I need a B in intermediate algebra and an B in pre-calc in order to take physics.

I have look at possible taking intermediate algebra over the summer to get a better grade then take pre-calc in the spring of next year. The problem is I have intro to med terminology (not required for my major) at the same time pre calc is and not only that I will not be able to take physic next summer before my MCAT because I have to go over sea to France which last 3 weeks (this is required in order to graduate).:scared: I only have two more year before I graduate and I don't have any room to change classes besides plant tax which I changing out for stats (required class), and I don't want to be here another semester since most of my classes are offered every other year.

Should I just drop intro to med term and take pre calc and try to take physics next summer even though I taking a CNA training program this summer? Is there a way I could possible not take physic and still get a decent MCAT score? I'm trying to avoid taking the 2015 MCAT even though I already took sociology I just don't have psychology. What would your advice be?

My goodness! Drop medical terminology! You'll be immersed in it in medical school. There's no need to take a class in it now! Don't fall for the classic pre-med syndrome of taking classes like these. Just take your physics, bio, chem, and orgo so you can be ready for the MCAT in 2014. This whole MCAT transition is unfortunate. IMO, they should've announced well ahead of time...if you come into college in class of 201X you're going to have to take the 2015 MCAT...the downside is that if you make it 2016 class then everyone will have to wait until Jan...I assume this is why they aren't doing it this way but I don't know how they're going to compare a 2014 MCATer (early taker) with a 2015 MCAter for the 2015 app cycle (not my problem but it seems weird). Im also scared for those who fall short Fall 2014 and have to retake the 2015 with an entirely new exam... Anyways, back to ur question...no you will need all the physics help you can get. Take prealgebra, take pre-calc and take physics and then you'll need to study for it on top of the MCAT. You will not be able to self study physics adequately IMO without any background in it IMO...or atleast I'd rather have background in that over a medical term course. Can't you take Med. Term. senior year or something? It might be more useful then too because you'll be closer to medical school. You go to state by chance? If you do PM me and I can help.

No. You should not take the mcat without taking physics. It is 50% of the physical sciences section.

No I don't go to state, even thought I did want to but I applied to college late, lol.

It sounds like you are missing significantly more than a class. . . you should definitely take both Physics I and Physics II prior to the test. In addition, I think it makes sense to take at least Org. I. Some people take it before, since Organic is only 1/4 of the Bio section, but if you want to score really well, that 1/4 makes a pretty big difference.

So this is what my plan look like for next year for classes:
Fall: Principles of Genetics, Cell bio, Organic chem, french 101 (taking in order to get out of two other class)

Spring: Intro to med term, human physiology, organic chem 2, cross cultural, French 102

Summer: France for three weeks

I was thinking of talking to the advisor at the community college for summer classes to see if I can get into pre-calc, but it probably wont happen. So ill take algebra over again to get a higher grade, then take pre-calc in place of intro to med terms. But the probably with this is that I will be over seas in the summer for three whole weeks and I have no idea how I will be able to take a physics class when I will be in France for three weeks then take the MCAT right after I get back from France. The community college spring semester starts may 8 to June 28, most likely for next summer but that not certain or if they even offer physics during next summer.

For the summer of this year I plan to take intro to chem (instead of gen chem because its a requirement), pre calc, and hopefully a CNA training program in the community college Spring's term. Since the community college does not offer physics in the summer term there, which I think it lame.

I don't think anyone here is going to recommend you take you mcat without taking physics 1 and 2. It seems you have issues with math and english (based on your writing), and both will hurt you on the mcat.

If you are determined to stick with your schedule, then do so. However, you shouldn't take your mcat without taking physics 1 and 2 first.

I just found out that I may not be able to take the MCAT during my junior year so is it too late to take it in the summer of my senior year? it's because I didn't do so well in a prerequisite class, so all my class are behind. My advisor suggest doing an independent major were you combine two majors into one like biology and health/exercise science, but I probably would not be able to graduate on time and I have took a lot of biology classes. But I still have the problem with not fitting physic into my plan since for a biology major a physic class is not required at all just class like: environmental science, botany, genetics, parasitology, zoology, plant and people, ect. So my senior year I will be taking organic chem 1 and 2, stats, environmental science, and human development.

So is it possible to teach myself physic with the help of a class mate you has already taken this class?

What would you suggest?
