I have been holding off on completing my supplementals because I am on the verge of landing a dental assisting job and I want to include it in them. How long can I wait before submitting the supplementals before it begins to hurt my chances at landing interviews? I already submitted my AADSAS app and it was in the first mailing. The job will be my first experience in dentistry (besides 100 hours of shadowing), so I want to incorporate the job into my supplemental essays so that schools know that I am using my time in my gap year appropriately. Thank you in advance for any help!

Schools won't even look at your application until you have your supplemental in, so the sooner you submit them the better. When you go on interviews, you will have ample opportunity to tell them about your dental experiences and what you are currently up to. Also, once you've submitted your secondaries, you can be proactive and update the schools via e-mail on what you're up to. I did this every month before and after my interviews and I found it extremely helpful. They added the information to my file and I believe it actually landed me some of my interviews and acceptances. I can't stress the importance of getting your completed application in ASAP, it is a time game.

Do all schools allow updates to an application?

You can actually add the experience now and anticipate the hours into the future. You can put start July 2015 end January 2016, 100 hours.
