I am a senior in HS and I have been accepted to a BS/MD program but I decided not to go there for financial reasons but I would like to attend medical school. I have noried down my search to University of Georgia or Georgia Tech. I know that Georgia tech is a better school but its also very hard to get a good GPA at Tech. UGA is an average state school and easy(relatively speaking) to get a good GPA. Where should is go knowing that both premed programs have about the same percent of acceptance into medical school?

How much more expensive would the BS/MD program be?
And why didn't you get any merit scholarships at another school, say, Emory U, which is in Atlanta, GA, too...

BS/MD was much more expencive. I would have paid about 35k per year for 3 yers + med school while about 7k per yer for 4 years + med school. And i dont find out about emory until march.

First off, totally disregard percent acceptance into med school. That is a completely bogus statistic. Schools manipulate their numbers and often screw students over to inflate them.

I'd go to UGA. An easier road to a high GPA is will save you incalculable stress when application time comes.

Yeah, take it from someone who followed the path of greatest resistance: you don't want to have to scrap for grades if it isn't necessary. Set yourself up for a cakewalk to a 3.7. You'll be glad you did.

I strongly suggest against going Georgia Tech. I have a friend who went there for 2 years. This friend is very smart and got decent grade at Georgia Tech ~3.5 GPA for Nuclear Engineering. However 3.5 just isnt good enough for many medical school. Had he go to an easier school, he could have easily gotten at least 3.7 GPA, which is pretty good for almost any medical school. .2 GPA makes a HUGE difference.

Your GPA will definitely be challenged if you go to GTech....very good school though.

I vote UGA. GT is excellent for engineering but probably not for pre-med.

Makes me curious so I apologize for being nosy, but what was the BS/MD program? BS/MD programs typically don't notify acceptances this early during senior year and most of these programs right now are still in the process of sending out interview invites or conducting their earliest interviews and send out acceptances around March/April.

Actually, now that I think of it I think Temple's BS/MD sends out acceptances around now.

Actually I applied to northeaster Ohio BS/MD program as a junior and was accepted but decided not to go.
