HELP!! Post Baccs vs. SMP

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
SMP is medical school classes, for those who have taken all pre-reqs. It is a dangerous route because if you don't do well in SMP, you won't ever get into med school.

Post-bac is for people who want to improve their chances by taking undergrad courses. For you, I'd definitely recommend a post-bac.

You can find all this by searching, but Goucher, BM and Scripps pretty much boast a 100% acceptance rate into medical school (however, you need exceptional stats to get into them).

Goucher, BM, and Scripps are for those who did not take Sci classes in undergrad. So, it might be inappropriate for OP. Yes, those are amazing postbacc programs. NO doubt bout that (according to their matriculation rate and all that).

Besides BU and Nova, I think UMDNJ Newark biomedical sci program let you take two dental classes along w/ dental students. Also, I believe you can use all basic sci master program or any medical biomed sci program for dental. Pick SMPs that you are interested in and call them. Ask if any student applied to dental school and SUCCESSFULLY got in. Good luck in the future.

Hoping this will give you a bit more information. I am a pre-dental student as well, looking into the SMP or post bacc route. There are a few (I think only 5 or so total) programs nationwide that are designed specifically for dental school and have linkages to dental school, such as Baylor's post bacc, creightons post bacc, theres one in california and florida i believe. Unfortunately, all, but Creighton, require state residence. In regrads to SMP for dental school, none that I know of are linked to dental school, as they are mostly geared towards med students. With that said, there are still a number of pre-dental students that enter Med-school SMP's are are successful in matriculation to dental school. There are numerous SMP's across the nation - midwestern, barry, drexel, UNT..... there is a sticky post on here with a list of post-bacc programs.

hope that helps
