Hi, I go to a quarter school. Looking at the semester pharmacy school's websites, I see that their requirements for biology don't exactly sync up with what I have.

Some schools want 12 qtr hours for general biology. My school's general bio sequence is two five hour classes (both had labs). That's it. I have 10 credit hours for general bio, they want 12. Erg...

Also with Microbio. I see that these schools want 1 course, but 6 quarter hours. Those classes only come in the 5 hour variety-- which, hey! that's what I have. Again Erg

Is anyone else here that goes to a quarter school facing this problem? Or at least know what policy is? Or am I just stressing over nothing?

that bio problem is common. are you in ohio by any chance?

what people generally do is take another quarter of upperdiv bio. as for micro, there should be another microbio class you can take. like general microbio + pathogenic bacteriology? something like that.

But of course.

It just really bugs that I'll have to pick up an extra bio and MB class because of technicalities. Looking at the scheduling, I might have to drop my minor to fit this all in. 😡 Especially since it looks like there is literally only one general biology class that I can take that's offered this year

Ha! So you're in Ohio!!!

Don't worry about it. None of the schools I applied to last year even asked me about the bio question and I was sooo worried about it all the time.

As far as the Microbiology class goes, 1 class with 5 credit hours should be fine. If you go to Ohio State, I believe it's Micro 509.

Phew, yeah, I had a minor freakout this afternoon (hadn't had one of those in a while, so I was due). It was fun:hardy:. After getting in contact with some schools it does look like most of the credit transfers, no big deal. Thanks for the reassurance!

good luck on your apps! :luck:
