hi, i am reading about fluid and electrolyte therapy from Miller's anesthesia ..i am having confusion on replacing (electrolyte and fluid ) losses from gastric drainage losses... in that book said that if there are losses from gastric drainage of 0,5 L/day, it will loses 30-50 mEq Na and 50-65 mEq Cl (as showned in the attached table ). and it can be replaced with 0.45% NaCl.

my questions are:
1. are the Electrolytes amount(mEq/L) mentioned in the table is for 24 hours?

2. how about if i have a 70 kgs patient, he has been fasting for 10 hours and he had also 500 ml of abnormal fluid losses from his gastric drainage for that ten hours too? if i calculate, the maintanance fluid is 110ml/hr, he has been fasting for 10 hours ,so the fasting deficit will be 110 ml/hr x 10 hrs = 1100ml
and he had also the 500 ml abnormal fluid losses from his gastrc drainage..so, for replacing his total deficit , we need to give the patient 1100 ml + 500 ml = 1600 ml...but how about the electrolyte losses (how can i count it based on the table attached) ? and what kind of solution should i use?
please help me...Thx u 🙂
