Help rounding out school list

I need to add a few more schools to my list. I love BU but the 10k+ applicants scares me away a bit. Any ideas for schools strong in research, in mid-size city location, good oos acceptance, mid tier, near water also a big plus. Mn resident and Planing on pediatrics.

Right now the only ones I have that fit that description is u of mn and u of wi.

I have strong numbers, and I know selection gets kind of mysterious/random at the top schools due to crazy competition, so Im trying to find a couple that I should be solid at and that fit my little description above. Any ideas? Im not having the best of luck with my old MSAR.
