Hi, so I was planning to take pretty much a full load of classes (one of which is physics 2), while preparing for the DAT. I have finished pretty much all of my other prerequisites (biology, gen chem, ochem) and only have physics 2 and the labs for both physics 1 and 2 to complete.

However the thing is, when I study for a test for a class like physics I pour all my time, energy, heart and soul into it for at least a week before the test. For every test!!! This might sound crazy but I probably spent a total of about 60 hours studying for my physics final last semester. :beat: I know I may go overboard a little bit and I probably could be a LITTLE bit more efficient with my time but I swear that's what I need to do in order to do well...

So my question basically is, do you think it would be wise to take physics (along with 2 other classes) while studying for the DAT, doing research AND shadowing at a dentist's office next semester? I plan to take the DAT at the end of the semester and turn in my application to dental school by the beginning of June....I'm just a little concerned because I hear about other people on here who did nothing else and dedicated all their time into studying for this thing (studied over the summer, winter break etc.)...which is something I may not have the luxury to do...

Some people are capable of studying for the DAT during the semester some are not. It sounds to me like you probably are not. If I were you I would start doing some light review during the semester and then hit it hard for the first 6-8 weeks after school is out and do the DAT in July.

You sound just like me =) I can relate! 👍

For me, if i had a schedule like yours, I would wait out till the summer to take the DATs but get your application in once the cycle opens. Though it's ideal to want to apply early and such, there's no written rule saying that saids summer isn't still considered early. This is probably the safest bet IMO. GL
