Hey all,

So as you all know, most schools require a non-science LOR. The problem is, getting one for me is kind of out of the question (for various reasons). The point is, I am looking to see if it would be okay to substitute that with another LOR, which I know would be substantially stronger. However, it would not be from a professor I took a class with, nor would it be from someone who holds a PhD.

I actually teach at a high school (yes, teacher, not a TA or volunteer). I have an excellent relationship with the director, and she has a masters in education. I know she could provide me with a solid letter, much stronger than anything I'd get from a professor that I took a hum class with in uni.

How will med schools look at this? Please be as critical as possible. I want to be realistic with myself for this cycle.

If a school has a requirement for a non-science professor LOR you have to have it. That being said, I applied to a lot of schools and only remember a few specifically asking for letters from non-science professors. I believe this info is available on MSAR or the schools website. I would ask for the LOR anyways and use it as it sounds like it'll be strong.
