After the first round of acceptances I put my money down at NOVA. However, I was just accepted to UAB and have to make a decision ASAP between the 2 schools. I was hoping to hear from students that go, or have gone to both schools so I could better make an informed decision. At my interview I liked Nova and I love south florida, however I wasn't impressed with the setup of their clinic and I have heard about there being a problem getting chairs to see patients. This is a big concern to me because repeatedly doing procedures on patients is the only way to develop your skills. At my UAB interview, I loved UAB and the curriculum they seemed to present. However, many of their facilities seemed very out-dated and I am unsure about living in Birmingham. I really could use some good informed reviews concerning each school and your opinions. Thanks in advance for any responses.

It seems to be that there are definitely some issues with Chairs at NOVA. It also seems UAB has a great reputation. If it were me i would want to go to UAB and live the NOVA lifestyle.

Nova is a great school, very solid academics and clinicals. There was a problem with chairs a number of years ago but it is now resolved from what i hear, so no need to worry about that. Nova is more high tech, and in my opinion would greatly prepare a dentist for practice in this day and age.

You wont be proficient coming out of any dental school, no matter how much experience you get. Dental school is dental school, and If a school is accredited then no need to worry about it. Ultimately i would go for the least expensive but make sure you feel comfortable with the school and area.

Yeah, several Nova students said the new off-site clinics and externships really help the chair problem.
