I’m applying for HPSP right now and want to boost my chances, so I’m considering applying to both the Army and Navy. My Army recruiter told me that if a counselor finds out I applied to more than one branch, my Army packet will be revoked. Is that actually true? I feel like this might just be him trying to keep me with the Army. Has anyone successfully applied to both? I want to apply to both, but I don’t want to risk losing my shot. Appreciate any help.

Lie. Go to MEPs with one branch. Then after you’ve done that, approach the other branch. Ask for your MEPs packet to be used. There will be no problems doing both. They don’t need to know about each other

Would you say that’s the smarter move, or do you think I’d have better odds just going all-in on Army? I could line up a few Army dentist letters and really tailor my whole app, statement, resume, etc., specifically toward the Army instead of keeping it broad for both. Just trying to have the best odds. Appreciate your advice.

Army has more opportunities for residencies. You also don’t have to go on a ship, but you may end up in Qatar or Poland. I’d do both. Navy doesn’t have to do stupid snowbird years for residency. Navy was more competitive years ago, but I would imagine it’s becoming pretty much the same now
