Hey everyone,
I was hoping someone would have some advice for me in terms of which masters program to pursue to maximize my chances of getting into med school... I've been accepted to
BU's M.A. in Medical Sciences program (1 year, $23K),
Dartmouth's M.S. in CECS (1 yr, $?),
NYMC's M.S. in Biochemistry/Mol.Bio (2 years, $14K), and am on Georgetown (SMP)'s "Priority Accept" list (1 yr, $24K)...
My main weakness is a low BCPM and overall GPA; MCATs are decent (avg.10).
As far as I've gathered, BU and Gtown's SMP programs are relatively similar, Dartmouth doesn't give letter grades (which pretty much rules it out), and NYMC's program is a more traditional, thesis-based Master's program. Are there huge differences in the reputations of
1) the different programs
2) the different medical schools? And,
How much does reputation matter in such programs? What else do you suggest I should be taking into consideration when deciding between these schools?
Thank you in advance for your help!!
