I'm really baffled by this decision with May approaching. Location isnt a concern. Does anyone have any advice about what school to pick (UR or AECOM)?

Hi 🙂 Welcome to SDN, and congrats on having to make such a decision!

Never having seen either, I would pick Einstein b/c it's closer to the city. 🙂

Since location is not a concern for you, I think you should take the curriculum, student life, and goals of each school into consideration.

But then again, how can location NOT be a concern? 😀 The people and environment you're in will have a big impact on your med school life.

Here is a link to a thread about Rochester: <a href="http://forums.studentdoctor.net/ubb/ultimatebb.php?ubb=get_topic;f=1;t=011193" target="_blank">Rochester Class of 2006</a>

hey naik, i did not elect to interview at einstein, so i can't really say which is better. but i do know that rochester was my favorite non-california/non-nyc school that i applied to. okay, so location is not a concern for you. but i would like to interject that rochester is a fantastic place to live just imo. i'm from the big cities (l.a., san francisco), but even so, i really enjoyed rochester. it's beautiful, it's clean, it's modern, it's moderate-sized enuf that there is stuff to do (not a lot admittedly, but there is some), and most of all, the people are hecka nice. nicest among any group of people i've seen thus far in life.

anyways, rochester would be great if you are cool with pbl. that school is loaded with money and they will spoil you so much. the facilities are gorgeous, the faculty is tops (lots of big names and good teachers supposedly), and of course, the students are very down to earth and friendly (the local people must rub off on them)

oh and last of all, only if you can stand the cold. personally, i can't, but that's just me 🙂

Hey Naik, welcome to SDN!

I was accepted to both and am choosing Einstein over Rochester...

I bumped up the thread titled "My 2nd look wknd (Einstein)..." which talks about Einstein and some of its +'s and -'s... (it should be on the first couple pages now)

there were a couple older threads comparing the 2, but without the search function, it's going to be hard to find...

anyway, if you have any more questions about the two, you can PM me (click on the envelope icon above) or post another reply...

good luck with your decision... they are both very good schools (but like Dr. Foxy said, VERY different locations)

Hey Naik! Welcome to SDN and congratulations on your acceptances to such great schools! It's nice to hear good news  . Anyways, I never applied to Einstein, but like Foxy said we have a thread on Rochester if you'd like to bug us! I too liked how 'non-stressed' and unified the Rochester students are. My family lives in Rochester (don't ask me why! It's FREEZING! 😀 ) so part of my going besides it being my dream school was the fact I'll be living with my aunt. But feel free to post on the Rochester 2006 thread if it would help you! Take care 🙂 !
