Question:
A 4-digit number is formed at random from the digit 1,2,3,4 if digits can be repeated in the number, what is the probability that the number is greater than 2500 ?
solve:
the number will be larger than 2,500 if the fist digit is either 3 or 4. Since all digits are selected at random, the probability that a 3 or a 4 is selected for the first digit is 1/2
I am not quite understand the explaination of the book, can anyone help me explain more detail? how can I come up the number 2,500
thanks
