How do I explain an incomplete grade on my ERAS residency application???

I have an incomplete grade in the medicine subI and my school won't let me retake until after the apps go out. What is the best approach to address this situation? Should I say as little as possible up front and leave it for the interviews, or should I spill the beans now? I tore my ACL/meniscus and needed 2 surgeries. How would I inform them of this? Thank you.
