Hello guys,
I am neurology resident at SUNY buffalo applying to pain fellowships next year. Can anyone tell me what are the things are Program Directors looking for in the applicants. And how bright are the chances of neuro residents to get into a pain fellowship. Do the PDs look at publications or LORs,etc.?

Hi,

Seems like every few months we see a post like this. The answer is pretty straightforward. Being a neurologist does not preclude you from matching at a great fellowship. Fellowship and residency program directors look at the same things in an application (everything that's included in the application). This includes:

Type of residency and exposure to pain medicine
Reputation of hospital and department
LOR
Papers/posters
Inservice scores
and all the other stuff you would typically find in a CV...

If you are less than confident apply broadly. Best of luck to you.
