I 've graduated from a foreign college (BS degree) and now studying a pre-med program in US (post-bac). Everything is fine except that I am really worried about my foreign transcript since AMCAS doesn't accept foreign transcript. 😕 😕 😕
Can someone give me some suggestions? 🙁 Thanks for your helping me. 😍

if i am not mistaken, you can input your grades but AMCAS will not verify them. I dont think that will be a problem

Unfortunately (or, fortunately, depending on how you did at your foreign college), admissions committees will decide your fate based on only your post-bacc grades (you could try to get a credentialing service, like World Education Services, to translate your transcript, and then personally send the results to each med school after you submit your AMCAS, but, many still won't attach much weight to your foreign grades-- contact particular schools to see what consideration they will give).

If you have a green card, get a good gpa in the post-bacc stuff, do well on the MCAT, and have reasonable extracurricular activities, you will still be admissible.

Yeah, but can I still send transcript request form to my foreign college and will AMCAS take my foreign grade into my total GPA? Thx 🙂

Also, this is the scam of a lifetime. I had a friend who was in this situation. She did input her foreign classes on the AMCAS with the intention of then submitting a transcript manually to the individual schools so they could then "verify" her grades. After she talked to the schools, she found out that AMCAS didn't actually send any of the foreign course information to the schools at all. I'm not sure if some med schools choose not to display unverified classes, or whether AMCAS really just has you input them and then doesn't bother transmitting them, but I would explicitly ask AMCAS and a few medical schools about whether or not they transmit the unverified grade info to schools.

No. You can have the transcript sent to AMCAS, but they will ignore it if it is not from one of the colleges on their drop-down list or US colleges and about ten foreign colleges.

My GPA in a foreign college is 3.81 and my first year pre-med course for 18 credit hours is about 3.84. Additionally, I am a Green Card holder and have many years of research and clinical experience (some heritage of medicine). I believe that if I can do well in MCAT and be more specific on my research work for some kind of publication, my chance to an average med school will be enhanced. You lovely people are very helpful 🙂
